Common Name: Cherry, Black Botanical Name: Prunus serotina Description: Cherry is one of the nicer hardwoods to work with. It is hard enough to be used for funiture and other projects but it is soft enough to be enjoyable to work. It has a tendancy to burn. The wood is one of the more expensive domestic hardwoods. That is no doubt due to its natural bueaty. When first cut, cherry is very light, almost as light as maple. However, exposure to sunlight will quickly darken this wood to the more familiar cherry look. Hardness: 950 Price: $$
