Lacewood |
|
![]() Quarter sawn unfinished lacewood. |
Common Name: Lacewood Alternative Names: silky oak Description: When lacewood it is quarter sawn has a dramatic rays that easily identify this wood. The overall color of the wood is similar to that of mahogany. Despite its relative softness I've found this to be quite heavy and more difficult to work. When it is cut the wood seems to be almost sticky. It also seems to splinter readily. Best kept to an accent wood or used in smaller projects. Hardness: 840 Price: $$$
