Cherry and Maple Wall Mounted Coat RackWoods: Cherry, Birdseye Maple
|
|||||||||||
This coat rack is a simple yet functional design. The joinery used for this coat rack were biscuit joints. If I had to do it again I would have used through mortises for attaching the shelf to the sides. The strength really isn't a concern on this piece, we don't set heavy objects on this high shallow shelf. I just like the look of through mortise joints. This coat rack has significantly improved the organization of our coats and hats. We no longer hang our coats on the banister and set our hats on the table. Any woodworking project that is function is very worth while in my book. The sides and back are made of cherry. Although you can't tell from the picture the shelf is made from birdseye maple. What a shame, it is a very nice piece of wood. The pegs are made of maple. The finish is an oil and varnish blend. |
